Realestate.com.kh caught up with Desmond Yap, general manager at Yong Yap Properties, to learn more about buying through a nominee structure effectively and understand the recent changes to the legal practice of Soft Title Ownership for Foreigners in Cambodia.
Up until now the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction has turned a blind eye to the many Khans and Sangkats below their authority issuing soft titles to foreigners. In a recent announcement, however, this precedent has been totally stopped in Phnom Penh. There are however various solutions and ways around these recent changes, including buying through a nominee structure.
