MERIDIAN INTERNATIONAL HOLDING (CAMBODIA) EMERGES AS TOP WINNER AT THE COUNTRY’S BIGGEST NIGHT FOR REAL ESTATE
- More than 30 golden trophies were presented to outstanding companies and projects across the nation
- Almost a dozen companies clinch new honours, including new Developer categories and prizes for projects in Greater Phnom Penh and Siem Reap
- Safety protocols observed at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra gala
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia – 4 September 2020
The brightest luminaries in the country’s property sector converged at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra in Phnom Penh for the 5th Annual PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards, presented by Hitachi Elevators & Escalators, on Friday, 4 September.
More than 30 trophies and nearly 25 Highly Commended distinctions were presented to almost a dozen companies, representing the best of the best development firms and projects in the nation.
With eight wins, Meridian International Holding (Cambodia) Ltd. emerged as the gala night’s biggest victor. The company was named Best Developer and Best Mixed Use Developer for outstanding work on its Flatiron project, which won four trophies including Best Serviced Apartment Development and Best Mixed Use Architectural Design.
Another big winner was Urban Hub (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., which triumphed in the new category of Best Breakthrough Developer. It also scored two of the night’s major development prizes – Best Condo Development (Cambodia) and Best Condo Development (Phnom Penh) for Urban Village and Factory Phnom Penh.
Four-time Best Developer award winner Peng Huoth Group bested four companies to take home the new award of Best Lifestyle Developer. Its massive township project, Star Platinum Eco Collection Phase I, claimed the coveted prize of Best Housing Development (Cambodia).
Earning Highly Commended honours for Best Breakthrough Developer and Best Lifestyle Developer, Morganford Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. won three awards for its office development, Morgan Tower, and another for its condo project, Morgan EnMaison.
Other areas besides central Phnom Penh were well represented in this year’s edition of the prestigious industry awards. The Bakong Village and Rose Apple Square projects clinched the new awards of Best Township Development (Siem Reap) and Best Residential Development (Siem Reap), respectively. Another new prize, Best Condo Development (Greater Phnom Penh), went to La Vista One by Yin Yi Venture Co., Ltd.

This year’s Cambodia Real Estate Personality of the Year title was presented to Hok Kang, founder of Urbanland Investment Co., Ltd and Hok Kang Architects. The only award not selected by the judges but by the editors of PropertyGuru Property Report, the recipient was chosen for his exemplary developments that have elevated building quality and design standards in Cambodia. His eclectic portfolio of projects focused on providing “spaces that are
committed to the Kingdom, its people, and its future,” from affordable homes that enable suburbanites to live a more dignified lifestyle to a luxury hotel that promotes environmental consciousness.
Safety protocols were implemented onsite during the preparations and on the day of the gala dinner. These included vigilant temperature checks on guests and staff; distribution of masks for all hotel staff associated with the event; and easy access to hand sanitisation upon registration. Table capacity was also limited inside the ballroom to maintain safe social distancing.
