Dara Hotels, Dara means star in the Khmer language, is a brand name for a hospitality business initiative started by a group of Cambodian investors. The group has started this hospitality-focused joint-venture in the 2000s after having seen Cambodia's high potential growth in the hospitality sector. The group’s vision is to develop top-tier internationally standards hotels in some prime locations across Cambodia.

Since the establishment, the group started their first project which was a major success for the starter. It was the renovation of a historic landmark hotel by the Independence Beach in Sihanoukville, which is widely known as “Pram Pi Chhonn Hotel” literally means seven-storey hotel, among Cambodian people.

Designed by two French architects, Leroy and Mondet, the hotel was completed in 1964. It was a personal project of the late king Norodom Sihanouk. Nowadays, it is officially run under the name Independence Hotel by Dara. It is currently under another phase of modernisation.

The group later moved on to work on other hospitality and accommodation projects including Dara Airport City Hotel & Spa, The Sixties, Olympia City Hotel and the latest project is The Elysee by Dara, a project that consists of 37 luxurious French-style serviced apartments located in the heart of Phnom Penh’s CBD of Diamond Island.
