The third edition of the PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards to recognise the finest developers and real estate projects in the country has been launched in Phnom Penh.
Presented by KHI, the annual PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards will hold its annual black-tie gala evening on 16 March 2018 at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, where the launch press conference was held.
The prestigious competition is open to property developers and companies with eligible developments located in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville – the location of some of the most exciting properties in the country today.
Developers and the general public are welcome to submit nominations until 5 January 2018, while entries are accepted until 12 January. There is no fee to enter.
Categories are grouped into three main sections: Developer, Development and Design. There will also be a selection of special awards for promoting corporate social responsibility (CSR) and excellence in sustainable development, green building and universal design.
In addition, the editors of Property Report magazine are searching for the next Cambodia Real Estate Personality of the Year to celebrate an individual who has displayed innovation, ambition and achievements in the local real estate industry. The Winner of this special award will be announced before the 2018 gala dinner.
More than 30 projects from 13 companies located across those locations joined the 2017 competition, with 11 developers making the final shortlist and Borey Peng Huoth Group winning its second consecutive Best Developer (Cambodia) title.
In 2018, the number of participating developers is expected to increase as the Awards become more competitive and more outstanding projects are announced.
A new award to recognise a developer’s commitment to construction sector and well-being of workers will be presented by official charity CARE International, which has supported the previous edition of the Awards. Dubbed ‘CARE Special Recognition for Positive Construction Practices’, the special award will be judged according to the following criteria:

Cambodia’s real estate and construction sectors have grown tremendously in recent years as demand for new properties in tourism hotspots increase, allowing the coastal area of Sihanoukville to become more prominent on investors’ radar, based on a recent Realestate.com.kh survey.
Hari V. Krishnan, CEO of PropertyGuru Group: “The growth of the Cambodian real estate and construction sectors in recent years has been remarkable, and we are delighted to continue our focus on one of Southeast Asia’s rapidly emerging property markets.”
He added: As majority of domestic consumers now begin their property search online, the PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards plays a significant role as a starting point where consumers can embrace innovation and discover the best properties of the year.”
Supervised by BDO, the world’s fifth largest auditing and accountancy firm, the PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards is judged by an independent panel of industry experts led by Sorn Seap, founder and director of Key Real Estate Co Ltd.
“I believe the awards programme has become a great contributor to the construction and real estate industries in Cambodia, attracting the attention of investors from around the region and the rest of the world to consider investing in the Cambodian property sector,” Sorn Seap said. “The Awards have become an institution now that plays a significant role in promoting real estate and construction growth in Cambodia.”
In 2017 an estimated 300 guests attended the black-tie gala evening at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, attended by several VIPs, including H.E. Senior Minister Chea Sophara Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, who delivered the keynote address. Cambodia News Channel televised the presentation that saw Borey Peng Huoth Group win back-to-back Best Developer titles.

About PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards:
The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards is the region’s biggest and most prestigious real estate awards programme. It is recognised as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence in the Asian property sector. Boasting an independent panel of industry experts and trusted awards supervisors, the Awards has an unparalleled reputation for being credible, fair and transparent.
Established in Thailand in 2005 to ‘recognise the region’s finest in real estate’, the Awards was founded to acknowledge, reward and celebrate the highest level of achievements by developers and developments at a domestic and regional level. Today the Awards is regarded as a milestone event in the real estate industry calendar and is attended by key decision makers and figure heads, as well as esteemed trade and consumer media. Annually, the Awards covers key markets in the Asian continent via a series of domestic gala ceremonies, hosting up to 600 senior industry figures, to recognise excellence within each Asian market, culminating in a Grand Final at the end of the year.
In 2017, the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards celebrates its 12th anniversary, and will feature domestic gala ceremonies in eight markets: Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore. The award scheme has also been expanded this year to include categories for Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia, Laos, India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and South Korea.
Domestic winners from these 16 markets will then compete head-to-head in the corresponding regional categories. The regional winners will be announced on the night of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final to be held in Singapore, in November 2017.
