Song Saa Collective to establish Eco-tourism City in Siem Reap
Song Saa Collective to establish Eco-tourism City in Siem Reap
June 6, 2022, 5:03 p.m.
Events & Announcements
Song Saa Collective, a company renowned for their luxurious hotel resort developments on Song Saa Private Island, Sihanoukville, has plans in motion to establish an eco-tourism city in Banteay Srey district in Siem Reap. The company has announced an initial investment of 3 million USD to purchase 400 hectares of land from locals residing in the area to host this initiative - see Realestate.com.kh's Chinese Tourism: A New Catalyst for Cambodia’s Real Estate Boom for more information.  In an article published on Ministry of Environment website, His Excellency, Say Samal  Minister of Environment, gave his approval of the project and encouraged any company which can aid the Government in creating more jobs for Cambodian people, whilst help conserve natural resources without an adverse impact on the environment.Rory Hunter, Director of Song Saa Collective, elaborated on his vision for the eco-tourism city, stating that he ensured one hectare of the project had a surrounding natural lake to help conserve the animals in the area. Mr. Hunter hopes that over the next five years his company’s  project would be developed with ease-  creating more jobs for people living in an area which is yet to see any industrial development.Once completed, the project will comprise of hotels, villas, schools, religious centers and other natural resorts. It is anticipated that the project will help attract more tourists; both domestic and international to visit the province- which is typically solely renowned for it’s historic Angkor Wat temple complex.Mr Mario Tan, Sales and Marketing Director of Hunter Estate commented on the benefits of the project stating: “The project will help attract more foreign tourists - especially Chinese to visit Siem Reap. Tourists visiting our neighboring nations Vietnam and Thailand usually stay longer in those countries because they have more tourism destinations compared to Cambodia.”Mr Mario continued: “When Cambodia has more resorts- especially in Siem Reap, the nation is able to compete with its’ neighbors, resulting in attracting more tourists to stay for longer periods. Ultimately, more tourists, for longer periods of time will have a majorly positive effect on the local economy”Tourism is considered one of the four major pillars supporting the Cambodian economy. In 2016 the Kingdom received over five million foreign tourists, including 830,000 Chinese and accumulated gross revenue of $3.4 billion, according to the Ministry of Tourism statistics.Increasing Chinese tourism is a major goal for the Government with the establishment of the  “China Ready for Cambodia Tourism” policy which aims to attract two million Chinese tourists to enter the Kingdom each year by 2020. Therefore, Cambodia needs to develop more tourism sites - such as the proposed eco-tourism city - to stimulate the growth of tourist arrivals each year and reach these targets. Please read our Siem Reap Location profile on Realestate.com.kh! Search properties for sale in Siem Reap and current properties for rent in Chroy Changvar!

The Real Estate Survey 2021 will give readers a glimpse of how the property market performed over the past year. Much of the property market was able to weather the economic headwind caused by the global pandemic and the Real Estate Survey 2021 offers readers key points that played a vital role in keeping the market afloat for as long as it has.Cambodia Real Estate Survey 2019: Rise of the young generationWith the Real Estate Survey 2019, we saw an increasing number of respondents in their late teens and early twenties showing interest in the real estate sector not only in terms of residence but also as investments. As Cambodia urbanises, incomes grow and family sizes shrink. This means young families are routinely bringing in $2,000 or more per month in disposable income while simultaneously pursuing homeownership in a safe and well-located community. Cambodia Real Estate Survey 2018: Market confidence growth with middle-class expansionRealestate.com.kh is excited to share the findings of our Cambodia Real Estate Survey 2018. One notable change can be seen when looking at the income of survey takers. Fewer people are earning less than $500 a month now than were two years ago. The group making $501-$10,000 a month grew considerably. This is a clear sign of an expanding middle class in the Kingdom.Cambodia Real Estate Survey 2016: Projecting the rise of the Cambodian property marketRealestate.com.kh is pleased to release the results of the 2016 Realestate.com.kh Consumer Sentiment Survey. Bosch continues robust growth in Cambodia: Sixth consecutive year of double-digit sales increase

Annual Press Conference 2017 in Phnom Penh  Construction and automotive industries key growth sectors for Bosch Bosch Automotive Aftermarket achieved record-breaking triple-digit growth Increasing brand awareness through multi-channel corporate brand campaign of how Bosch helps make a difference in CambodiaUp-skilling of more than 100 trainers and trainers-to-be in 2016 through vocational training Phnom Penh, Cambodia – Bosch, a leading global supplier of technology and services, registered strong sales growth in Cambodia for fiscal 2016. The company has been growing at a double-digit rate since establishing its presence in the country in 2010. “Cambodia continues to be an important growth market for Bosch in Southeast Asia, thanks to the steady economic growth of the country at around seven percent, particularly in the automotive and construction sectors,” said Andre de Jong, Managing Director of Bosch for Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.    Strong development across all business divisions Bosch’s Automotive Aftermarket division was the main contributor to the company’s overall growth in Cambodia in 2016. It achieved a record-breaking triple-digit growth, boosted by the country’s growing automotive market. According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, the number of registered vehicles in Cambodia reached 3.7 million in 2016 - a 16 percent increase year-on-year. “Cambodia’s automotive landscape is diversifying in terms of the number of makes and models of vehicles in the country. Bosch is supporting this trend by expanding our product range offered in the country,” said de Jong. “In parallel with the enhanced efforts of the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation to improve the safety of trucks, we are also expanding our portfolio to bring in a wider range of equipment and machinery spare parts (off-highway product segment).”  The Power Tools division maintained its momentum of positive growth, largely buoyed by the kingdom’s growing construction industry. By end 2016, total investment from approved construction projects in Cambodia had increased by over 140 percent compared to 2015. This amounted to USD 8.5 billion from more than 2,600 projects. “Bosch aims to contribute to the technological advancement of Cambodia’s construction industry. To support this booming sector, builders must have access to the right tools. In 2016, we therefore launched the “Heavy Duty” power tools series, a range of precise and long-lasting tools specifically tailored for heavy duty construction work,” said de Jong.  The flourishing construction industry also presented opportunities for the Security Systems division to offer safety and security solutions for property developments such as condominiums, offices, and hotels. The division registered a strong double-digit sales growth in 2016 compared to the previous year, with security cameras and access control systems as the main drivers.  The Drive and Control division performed well in 2016, too. The division currently offers solutions for the manufacturing, agriculture, mining, energy, and construction industries. Bosch has also broadened its product offerings in this area, to include frequency converters to help increase a building’s energy efficiency.    Building a strong corporate brand in Cambodia  To support long-term growth in the country and to heighten awareness of the company’s business activities and local presence, Bosch launched its first Southeast Asia-wide corporate brand campaign last year with the slogan, “We help make a difference”. Brand-building activities carried out in Cambodia. mainly focus on digital media including a microsite with a connected Facebook app that is linked to other touch points in print, television, and outdoor brand placement on billboards, buses and bus shelters. In 2017, Bosch is set to roll out the second phase of the campaign with details to be informed at a later date.     Enhancing the quality of life for the local community  Bosch’s corporate philosophy of enhancing the quality of life extends beyond its business practices to social commitment in the countries where the company operates in. In Cambodia, Bosch has been actively providing vocational training to trainers and trainers-to-be from various vocational training entities since 2010. In 2016, Bosch provided training to more than 100 participants, and donated its products to vocational training centers. “Bosch has had a long heritage in supporting vocational training. It is our lifelong commitment and passion to help make a difference to the local community by imparting technical know-how and skill sets,” said de Jong.  Bosch Group: Global strategy and business outlook for 2017 For 2017, in light of a subdued economic outlook and geopolitical uncertainty, Bosch aims to achieve sales growth of between three and five percent. And despite still heavy upfront investments in safeguarding the company’s future, results are set to rise. “Business success today gives us the leeway to shape tomorrow’s world,” said Dr Volkmar Denner, Chairman of the Bosch Board of Management. “As an innovation leader, we are shaping and driving transformation,” Denner added. The focal points of this transformation are changes in the mobility sphere and IoT connectivity. By 2020, all Bosch’s new electronic products will feature connectivity. The key to this is artificial intelligence (AI). Over the next five years, Bosch will be investing 300 million euros in its own center for artificial intelligence. In Asia Pacific, Bosch recorded a hefty 8.3 percent increase in sales in 2016 to 20.8 billion euros (exchange rate adjusted +12 percent). Bosch now generates 28 percent of its total sales revenue in Asia Pacific compared to 27 percent in the previous year.  Find outthe best real estate news on Realestate.com.kh

At the end of March, local NGO Building Trust International will be hosting the first ever CAMBOO Festival over the course of a week in Phnom Penh’s Freedom Park. The open festival will see 6 of Phnom Penh’s finest Architecture and Engineering universities battling it out in a sustainable building competition, each school’s students designing and building bamboo displays on site for the judges. On top of this, the Festival will showcase the Kingdom's finest environmentally friendly construction and architecture technology. Realestate.com.kh caught up with David Cole, the founder and director of Building Trust International to learn more about Cambodia’s first Sustainable Design fair. David first came to Cambodia to deliver flood resistant housing to communities affected by severe flooding in 2013. Since then he has helped design health facilities, schools, recreation areas and community based ecotourism infrastructure. He lives with his wife and young daughter in the capital and the design office he opened here, COLE Architecture+Design, continues to grow and take on new projects and support sustainable development across the country and region.   1) Tell us more about CAMBOO 2017:The CAMBOO Festival at the end of March will showcase Cambodia's rich natural environment with spectacular bamboo buildings and structures providing spaces for people to get to know local industries and local artisans. While promoting natural products and social enterprises that protect and promote some of Cambodia's best assets: natural landscapes and traditional skills. Six of the top Architecture and Engineering Universities from Phnom Penh are collaborating with us to design and build pavilions for the Festival. Building Trust are hosting an international design competition for the design of the temporary central hall space which will be a main feature of the Festival. The design challenge is already gaining the CAMBOO Festival international exposure. The week long event will host stalls in an eco market space along with shows, demonstrations and daily activities for people of all ages to get involved with.2) What's the purpose of the event? We want to celebrate Cambodia's natural resources and landscape and promote the amazing new industries working with natural products and providing sustainable development strategies that protect and enhance the environment for all those living in Cambodia and Southeast Asia. I work in the field of architecture and development, we are getting asked more and more to think about sustainability. In fact it is this growing interest in materials like bamboo that has provided the name to the festival CAMbodian bamBOO.3) Who is supporting the event? We have the support of a number of organisations doing great work with Ministries of the Environment, Fisheries and Forestry. We also have the support of the Municipality of Phnom Penh who have been kind enough to allow us to use Freedom Park. We are looking for more people and organisations that would be interested in being part of the event holding classes, shows or reserving one of the market stalls to promote and sell their products. We are also on the lookout for companies that may want to sponsor the cause and advertise their brand alongside such a worthwhile event that will attract a diverse mix of people to the central Phnom Penh civic space.  4) How about the architecture competition?Building Trust international have just announced their 7th international design competition which seeks to find an innovative design proposal for a landmark pavilion structure made from bamboo. The bamboo piece will be the centre of a CAMBOO Festival in Phnom Penh, Cambodia this March. The competition challenges architects, designers and engineers to provide a design solution which has the chance to shape the future of building with bamboo globally. This is an open International competition hosted by Building Trust International to encourage wider appreciation of bamboo and its use in construction. The goal is to generate progressive contemporary design ideas that Building Trust international and sponsors can actively work towards. We hope that the event will capture international media attention and perhaps even become an annual event.5) And how can readers join the event?Check out the CAMBOO Facebook event page, as we will post more information of daily events and make sure to keep the end of March free so you can drop by Freedom Park. We look forward to welcoming you there along with many other exciting organisations and brands. This story was a co-production of the Khmer Times & Realestate.com.kh “Property” Liftout. Sihanoukville Airport to become the largest airport in Cambodia

Realestate News
Sihanoukville International Airport (formerly Kang Keng Airport) was established in the 1960s. After the Khmer Rouge period, services in the airport stopped until it started operating again in early 2007. But it wasn’t until 2011 that a scheduled service was formally done.A tri-weekly trip from Siem Reap’s Angkor International Airport began in December of 2011, where it was further adjusted in 2013 to accommodate trips from and across Sihanoukville, Siem Reap, and Phnom Penh.Mr. Sin Chansereyvutha, the Director of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation said that Sihanoukville Airport is the largest airport in the country, which may be the case for the next 10 to 15 years. He explains that the economy of Sihanoukville had increasingly grown stronger, thanks to the economic contributions of the business sector, industry sector, transportation, imports and exports, and tourism. Sihanoukville is becoming a region of great potential as well for the real estate sector as the region was transformed into a special economic zone. Another important factor is the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, an international port. This is key for economic growth. In addition, Sihanoukville is also a tourist destination for both local and international tourists, with the Sihanoukville International Airport offering convenience and comfort to travelers. There are also domestic and international flights going to Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, and Siem Reap, along with options to take private aircrafts and helicopters. The Sihanoukville International Airport also has the same geographical environment as the airports in Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, where they are near the ports and the sea.Find out more about new development on Realestate.com.kh !Click here to download your free copy!
Koh Kong Airport Announced on Cambodian Coast
Koh Kong Airport Announced on Cambodian Coast

Realestate News
Infrastructural projects like railway completions, airport expansions, and road widening have been fast-tracking growth in Cambodia. As a result, the tourism sector is experiencing a sudden surge.  According to the Ministry of Tourism, around 2.7 million international visitors traveled to Cambodia. Leading the herd of visitors are the neighboring Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, and South Koreans.  So, this is being utilized as a resource towards a better tourism strategy.Anticipation Builds:Though declining to communicate project cost and timeline, Chinese-owned development company Tianjin Union Development Group (UDG) announced last week that a plan to construct a coastal airport has already been finalized and that “a geological survey and initial design work has been concluded for this high-grade international airport.” This is according to a representative from UDG. The representative adds, “The construction is ready to go.”The Union Development Group signed a 99-year lease with the government and has been developing projects in its 45,000-hectare of land concession in the districts of Kiri Sakor and Botum Sakor since 2008. Along with this is the government’s commitment to deny any application to construct new airports in the area, making UDG’s development the main airport of the province. The Bigger Picture:Most of the arrivals into Cambodia go through Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, accounting to around 90 percent of visitor arrivals. In comparison, coastal areas only received 8.8 percent of visitors who mostly arrive either by sea or by land. The developers are hopeful that this move will bring that number up. This airport will be a part of a bigger plan that includes the Dara Sakor Seashore Resort and a free trade zone with ports. And much like the expansion project of the Sihanoukville airport, the construction of the new airport in Koh Kong is expected to address any possible congestion. The airport development will be a part of the UDG’s $3.8 billion dollar plan to turn Koh Kong province into one of Cambodia’s main tourist destinations. Once completed, this airport is expected to bring in planes as big as an Airbus 380 and around 10 million travelers. So, will the construction of the Koh Kong airport allow the province to soar high or struggle to fly? We just have to wait for more details about the project to see.Find out new development in Cambodia on Realestate.com.kh
